Monet release new single ‘Albasore’

“So much to love, noisy and angular and unpredictable, yet also incredibly moreishly
melodic, honey-tinged somehow.” – Adam Walton, BBC Introducing
.

“Monet are fast becoming the enfant terrible’s of the Cardiff and South Wales music scene.
The four piece play a manic brand of experimental rock, within which you can hear a heady
combination of eccentric influences.” Clash Magazine, 2023

Returning with their first single since their last EP ‘You Need To Tell Worse Lies Man’
earlier this year, Monet’s new single, ‘Albasore’, is a fast and emotional bouncer set
across two mini movements. ‘Albasore’ is set for release on 15th December 2023 alongside
an accompanying self-produced music video.

In Albasore, Dewi Davies’ drums acts as a solid trellis for the rest of the members, despite
the odd and ever-changing time signatures. Lead singer, Garden Fence, brings a manic
then beautiful aching delivery, not overlooking the infectious hook, “I am the scum of the sea” which is sure to rally audiences in coming months. The guitar stylings of Pusyë and Ciggy swap between roles of structure and effect, a relationship that helps portray the mad,
reflective tone of the song, a highlight being the guitarmonies in the jazzier second act.

“Albasore is a great amalgamation of what we have been trying to achieve sonically. The
sound of ‘Albasore’ feels very much right and we can’t wait to release it as it’s one of our
favourites to play live. Albasore is about feeling like the worst person in the world, getting
sucked into that spiral of thinking, and tryna get out of it, a very cathartic tune to play.” –
Garden Fence, Monet.

The track is also available on vinyl along with on R*E*P*E*A*T’s album Leeks and Beets, released on the shops on January 12th but available from Bandcamp now.

Monet are a chaotic Swansea-based quartet that specialises in noisy yet danceable
outsider music. Inspired by artists like Pom Poko, Tropical Fuck Storm and John
Coltrane, Monet has been making waves with their unique blend of jazz embellished art
rock that combines strange musical concepts with catchy melodies, weird grooves and
lyricism charred by their Swansea sense of humour.
Monet has established themselves as an unmissable live act and has supported notable
artists such as Folly Group and Gaffa Tape Sandy. Their electrifying performance and
undeniable talent have garnered them a reputation as one of Wales’ most exciting and
in-demand artists. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for more new music in the new year.
