Seditious Swansea / Cambridge underground label R*E*P*E*A*T Proudly Presents
For Record Store Day 2022
You Flexi Thing Vol 9:
Flex & Drugs & Rock’n’Roll
Four new tracks from South Wales and East Anglia, from proper Top of the Pops popstars and young pretenders, to mark Record Store Day 2022, April 23rd
In the spirit of past flexi things, Volume 9 is a DIY Punk Rock East West Rebel Alliance Production; an eclectic mix of locations, genres and ages, all bound together by a commitment to active creativity and to making a change for the better.
Within its red flexible grooves (and free download) you will find 4 new tracks:
S*C*U*M – Priti Patel (Straight To Hell)
A timely reworking of S*M*A*S*H’s 1994 Tory trashing classic ‘(I want to) Kill Somebody’, recorded by Ed and Rob of that legendary, loudly lamented band. “It’s not that I want them dead, It’s just that this world would be a better place if they’d never existed.”
Whoever’s in power, we’ll be the opposition.
Patrick Jones – Windwords / Geiriaugwynt
A live reading, with added ambient sound effects, by the widely respected poet and playwright Patrick Jones, who has brought the struggles and contradictions of life in the Welsh Valleys to new audiences. He also wrote the highly acclaimed lyrics for James Dean Bradfield’s top ten album ‘Even in Exile’.
Idealistics – Shattered Moonlight
Marrying lyrical intensity to some stunning musicianship, Idealistics are a young Cambridge based band who love (amongst others) Manic Street Preachers, Wolf Alice and Muse. “Combining the aloof sexiness of Chris Stein’s (Blondie) guitars and the undeniable prowess of Stevie Knicks … you will be physically shaken by Idealistics… something special is happening here”. Primitive Soul – Zero
Forecast to be one of the ‘Sounds of Wales 2022’ by God Is In the TV, this even younger Blackwood band saw their debut ep sell out within three hours. A four piece cocktail of energy, ideas and adrenaline, Primitive Soul are a snapshot of youth, mixing thrashy electric guitar, an ominous bassline and caustic vocals, with something vital to say.
Available from indie record stores nationwide from April 23rd
