NEW ALBUM, STEP 13 DUE AUGUST 20th – 2022 TOUR DATES ON SALE NOW
Alabama 3 teamed up with Charlie Steen from Brixton lockdown neighbours Shame to release a ‘Shameless’ re-work of Alabama 3’s new single Whacked, released on Submarine Cat Records.
Listen to the new remix here.
“In some mangled petri dish called The Queen’s Head on Stockwell Road, Shame were born“- explains Larry Love. “Named at birth by Rev D Wayne Love, Shame have returned the favour to Alabama 3 and have collaborated on a remix of ‘Whacked’. So bear witness to this cross pollinated opus, where Alabama 3 get beaten up by Charlie Steen, front man of Shame, in some stairwell on the Stockwell Estate. Everybody comes out smiling.
Alabama 3, midwives to feral offspring such as Shame, are proud to present the missing link between the legendary Brixton based acid folk collective The Seven Kevin’s. Written by Pete Dunne, the drummer for the Seven Kevin’s, with Alabama 3 in mind, we sent the groove over to Charlie. Here’s the soupçon.”
Whacked is the first single to be released from their forthcoming album, Step 13 scheduled for release on August 20th. It’s the first offering of new material since the tragic passing of their beloved and unconventional The Very Reverend D. Wayne Love, in May of 2019.
Then, with the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown upon the world, the band got creative and submerged themselves in their music, teaming up with producer Cam Blackwood (George Ezra, Jack Savoretti, Tom Walker, Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes…) to focus their minds on something vital, new and fresh. This can clearly be heard in ‘Whacked’, a song which pays respect to the late co-writer of the song, Pete Dunne.
Whacked will loop around your brain like a recurring dream you can’t wake from in these hedonistic conscious unconscious times. Watch the video for Whacked here.
